Riverside Medical Center upgrades to 1.5T MRI and expands service days.

We are pleased to announce that Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton, LA has upgraded to a state of the art 1.5T MRI. We have also expanded our days of service to Monday - Saturday. Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) is an advanced diagnostic procedure that makes detailed images of internal bodily structures, such as the spine, joints, brain and other vital organs, without the use of X-rays or other forms of radiation.
Availability
Patient appointments may be scheduled for Monday - Saturdays, 8 a.m. till. Late appointments are available.

Riverside Medical Center Receives Gold Level Louisiana Hospital Quality Award
Franklinton, La., Riverside Medical Center has received the Gold Level 2008 Louisiana Hospital Quality Award, presented by Louisiana Health Care Review, Inc. (LHCR), the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Louisiana. The award was announced at the first Louisiana Health Care Quality Summit hosted by LHCR in Baton Rouge in April. With this award, Riverside Medical Center has been recognized for improving the quality of health care given to their patients, and Riverside Medical Center is one of 26 hospitals in the state to receive the 2008 Louisiana Hospital Quality Award. The Hospital Quality Award honors Louisiana hospitals that successfully implement quality initiatives directed toward improving patient care in the hospital setting. This is the third year these awards have been presented. The award recognizes those facilities that are actively engaged in improving care in one or more of the following areas:
The clinical topics measured for the awards have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Staff members from Riverside Medical Center have been working with quality improvement specialists from Louisiana Health Care Review, Inc. (LHCR) to use proven, evidence-based practices to improve care for their patients. With the use of specific designed protocols and education tools for Heart Failure and, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Riverside Medical Center will continue to provide quality patient care to the people of Washington Parish. “Louisiana Health Care Review is pleased to recognize hospitals such as Riverside Medical Center for achieving measured improvement in patient care. Riverside Medical Center and Cardiovascular Associates are screening high school athletes to detect Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a deadly thickening of the heart muscle that causes the sudden death of athletes.
This screening includes a limited Echocardiogram, Blood Pressure, Heart Rate and Glucose check.
These screenings are provided for the athletes at no cost by Riverside Medical Center and Cardiovascular Associates.

Franklinton, LA 2008—Riverside Medical Center and Alliance Imaging, Inc. announce the addition of six days per week magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) service, which will enable the facility to service the community with expanded MRI service and capability.
This service has allowed patients to undergo this imaging procedure within the community and now offers additional days of operation. “The addition of this imaging modality compliments ands greatly extend the range of high quality diagnostic services already available to the community’s residents at Riverside Medical,” states Brian Tate, Radiology Director.
