Health Information Management Department is a support service of Riverside Medical Center whose primary purpose is to contribute to the quality of patient care through the development and maintenance of a comprehensive, centralized medical record system. This system provides health care data and other information to support and promote the related goals and activities of Riverside Medical Center.

The centralized Health Information Management Department provides functional support to all components of Riverside Medical Center with respect to information management. These functions include:

• Providing patient identification and numbering system
• Monitoring of medical record documentation
• Support for performance improvement and utilization management studies
• Release of information, coordination of patient access to data and response to court subpoena and depositions
• Dictation/transcription services
• Providing financial/reimbursement support data, including diagnosis and procedure coding
• Storage and retrieval system, including chart tracking system
• Assisting in complying with legal and regulatory provisions and accrediting agency standards concerning health care data
• Providing data security, privacy and confidentiality processes

HOURS OF OPERATIONS AND STAFFING:
The department is staffed Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Transcription hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and PRN weekends.

Release of Information-Charts are copied after discharge upon request and upon presentation of an appropriate authorization.
