POSITION TITLE: Licensed Practical Nurse

DEPARTMENT: Pediatric & Internal Medicine Clinic

REPORTS TO: Practice Manager

STATUS: Full Time

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Licensed Practical Nurse shall record details of physical exam, noted abnormalities and patient’s general condition provided to the scribe from the provider. Document the assessment and plan as directed by the provider. Assist provider in submitting orders and follow up in obtaining results and finding of those orders.

Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning personal, financial, medical or employment status of patients.

Shall be responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing practice, managing supplies and equipment under the direction of the Clinic Director.

Must follow accepted safety practices for patients and clinic; report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action and must participate in safety instructional programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current Louisiana Licensed Practical Nurse license and BLS.

Desirable characteristics include at least six months as LPN in physician’s office; three years preferred. Medical coding and billing experience is a plus. Must have pediatric experience.

Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.

Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
